Dîner en Blanc was amazing. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out this post.) Geoff and I arrived at our designated meeting point, where we met our group leader, who took us for a little subway ride to 30th Street Station in Center City Philadelphia. It was WILDLY amusing to see the other subway riders’ reactions to hundreds of people dressed in white boarding the trains. We got a lot of questions about who was getting married.
Anyway, we got off of the train and took a short walk to our final destination: the bridge on JFK Boulevard over the Schuylkill River. Yes, the organizers of the event had worked with the city to actually shut down a major road in the middle of rush hour. And it was so, so cool. If you’re not familiar with Philadelphia, this is really in the heart of the city, and is surrounded by beautiful buildings and landmarks.
The rest of the night was a blur of good food, good wine, good people, sparklers, balloons and dancing. If there is a Dîner en Blanc in a city near you, I would HIGHLY recommend getting yourself on the waiting list!
Now on to the outfit…I ended up going with the Rachel Pally maxi dress that I had my eye on and a fun pair of DvF wedges. And instead of spending a chunk of money on a headband, I DIYed it with a plain white headband and a silk flower from Michaels!
I loved my outfit. But if I had to do it again (which I will next year), I would have worn a shorter dress. Trekking through the city while carrying all of our things and trying to keep my dress off of the ground was definitely challenging. You live and you learn!
Another post coming soon on some of the fun fashion seen at the Dîner!
